Holes 3 & 12

#3 Slight dogleg left with woods to left of fairway. No bunders but ditch and water right comes into play for wayward shots. Green from middle slopes to back left, back right and front right.

#12 Straight fairway with woods to left of fairway. No bunders but ditch and water right comes into play for wayward shots. Green from middle slopes to back left, back right and front right.

#3 This is a slight dogleg left with a line of pines to the right and deep woods to the left of fairway. The fairway becomes fairly straight from about 150 yards but the trees left will catch any pulled shots. The water right may come into play for wayward shots. There is a drainage ditch to the back right of the green that will catch long shots so avoid that area. There are no bunders but the green slopes on the left side towards the back and on the right side towards the front-right and back-right. If the greens are dry, approach shots will roll towards the back.

#12 The fairway is fairly straight with a line of trees to the right and deep woods to the left but it is driveable for the very long hitters. Stay away from the woods on the left as it is difficult to make par from there.

Holes 2 & 11

#2 Dogleg left with woods left of fairway. A large pine tree is in fairway at 100 yard marker. bunder surrounds front and right of green. Subtle breaks on green with slope towards left front from center of green.

#11 Straight or dogleg left fairway depending on tee setup with woods left of fairway. A large pine tree is in fairway at 100 yard marker. bunder surrounds front and right of green. Subtle breaks on green with slope towards left front from center of green.

#2 This is a dogleg left fairway with deep woods on the left and a line of pines on the right that come into play for wayward shots. Your shot to the green must navigate a large pine in the middle of the fairway at the 100 yard marker and with woods to the left, a precise shot is required. Wind from the right will affect most shots whereas wind from the left is blocked by the trees except for high shots. The green is protected by two bunders, one that borders the front and a deep bunker on the left side. Don’t go there! The green slopes slightly to the front left and from the front bunder towards the left. There are subtle undulations that make putting difficult. When holes are located just behind the front bunder, chipping is difficult as any shot just beyond the bunder will roll towards the back of the green. You better put some spin on the ball with this shot! Headland Country Club – Hole 2 and 11

Holes 1 & 10

hole1-10.jpg

#1 Straight fairway over a valley with a bunder in front protecting the green which slopes towards front and sides.

#10 Straight fairway with carry over Hwy 431 and a valley with a bunder in front protecting the green which slopes towards front and sides.

#1 This is a straight fairway over a small valley with split bunkers in front protecting the green, which slopes towards front and sides. There are trees just to the left front of the green that will catch wayward shots. The woods to the left should not come into play from this tee. Wind will affect any shot as wind from the left (east) tends to knock the ball down due to the woods while wind from the right (west) will move it left as expected. As the north-south fairway is open with no woods impeding, any wind into you will require an extra club and sometimes two and vice versa, if the wind is with you, it will take a club less but rarely more than one club. If you’re not on the green, you want to be in front of the green. The green slopes back to front and there is a fall-off at the back of the green making a chip shot very difficult. There is an alternate white tee box for #1 that is approximately 25 yards longer. If the white tee is setup here, then you have a narrow shot into the green with trees coming into play both left and right. The bunker comes into play for any shot left of the green.

#10 The change here is that the tee is beside the clubhouse and you have a carry over Hwy 431. Ensure that no cars are coming just in case you skull it. We don’t want any accidents happening! The woods to the left will come into play for any hooked or pulled shots.
